Jenine Marsh and Nadia Belerique


The bathmat has gone soggy, its dank odor fills my days. Holes in my feet sputter and spew pods of grime, it’s a trypophobic fever that can’t be overcome. The window does nothing to release the constant low tide of glutinous air in here. I caution to go near it again, was it yesterday, I tried to take a sip of air from the outside, and was frozen by a sharp sight. The sun reflecting off a metal object on concrete, like a formless knife the reflection caught my gaze and came for me, piercing my eyes with a brightness like a yolk bleeding into the perfect white of albumen. I’ve since retreated far away from the sill. Now my corneas feel as though they are welded to glass and I’m pooled on the floor, low vision. My skin feels petrified, cracking with any sudden move. I hear something falling, leaves from my neglected palm. I’m becoming blinkless, desperate for a drink but all I have are widened slits. A gust of wind through that window cuts the piss yellow air, dirt stings my eyes, my keys jingle by the door, a wind chime sings a song for the occasion.
